As the high school football season completes its seventh week, playoff berths and league championship pictures start to come into clear focus. Friday night, after Freeland earned a tough win against Swan Valley, the Tri-Valley Central conference picture is nearly cleared up entering the final week of league play.

Swan Valley took the lead early in both halves of the contest, but the resilient Falcons responded and earned a 29-14 victory. After the Vikings scored in the third quarter to take a 14-8 lead, the Falcons used three of their countless number of ball carriers to run for touchdowns to propel them to victory.

With the win, the Tri-Valley Central conference championship is very simple. Freeland, who already has earned at least a tie of the league title, simply needs to defeat Midland Bullock Creek next week to wrap up the league title with a perfect league record. If the Falcons lose, they will do no worse than share the title as they currently hold a one-game lead over Alma, and they also own the head to head tiebreaker.┬áNext week’s opponent Midland Bullock Creek has yet to win a contest in 2016, so the Falcons should be able to take care of business and wrap up the league title to themselves.
