Tri-County and Grant met Friday night in a battle of teams that were looking for a key win in their push for the postseason. The Grant Tigers entered the game at 3-2, while Tri-County entered with a 2-3 record. A lot of running as a result of the rain played in Grant’s favor as Casey Geers scored twice in a 21-14 victory.

In the first quarter, Casey Geers opened the scoring column for the Tigers as he scored on a 30 yard run. He later scored in the third quarter on an 81 yard run to give Grant a 14-7 lead. On the night, Greers had eight carries for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

For Tri-County, Quinten Stevens was the workhorse tailback as he had 26 carries for 114 yards and two touchdowns, and his score with 10:31 to play tied the contest at fourteen.

With 7:31 left to play, Grant’s Jared Evans punched it in from one yard out to give them the 21-14 lead that they would hold the remainder of the contest. Grant improves to 4-2 with the victory, and they will take on 0-6 Fremont next week in an attempt to move them within one win of automatic playoff qualification. For Tri-County, they now sit at 2-4 on the season, and they are still alive mathematically in the playoff hunt, even though they will have to win out and get some help. They start their pursuit next Friday against Newaygo.
