The Freeland Falcons and the Chesaning Indians had met each of the past ten seasons, and in all ten meetings Freeland defeated Chesaning by an average score of 35.6-14.8. This season was no different as Freeland used their ground game and timely passing to top the Indians 41-18.

The Wing-T offense allows for the Falcons to use a trio of ball carriers, and they all were very successful running the football. Freeland rushed for 397 yards as a team, and they had three 100 yard rushers. Max Kubiak ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns, Chris Bell added 112 yards and a score, and last week’s star Gehrit Metina added 103 yards and a touchdown.

After drawing defenders into the box to cover the run, quarterback Jake Kelsey dropped a pair of passing touchdowns, one to Drew Bakos and another to Zach Townsend. Kelsey threw just nine passes in Friday’s contest.

The Falcons opened the second half by scoring three straight touchdowns, widening the lead from one to twenty-two points with the game just entering the final quarter. This put the game out of reach as the Falcons would go on to score two more touchdowns in the fourth.

Freeland starts the Tri-Valley Central conference with their eleventh straight win over Chesaning, and they now sit 2-0 on the year. The Falcons will travel to Carrollton next week, who is also undefeated in both the league and their overall record. This will be a good test in league play for Freeland as Carrollton has only given up six points this season, and they are coming off a shutout against Bullock Creek.
