For the second week in a row, the Hudsonville Eagles took on a member of the CAAC-Blue as they travelled to Holt Thursday night after a 21-14 win over Grand Ledge a week ago. This week, Hudsonville had a far easier time as the absolutely dominated Holt from the start in a 38-7 win.

Hudsonville scored on their first four offensive drives to take a commanding 28-0 halftime lead. Jack Mandryk opened the scoring with a 18 yard touchdown run. On the last play of the first quarter, Mandryk took to the air as he connected with Drew Hicks for an eight yard touchdown.

Mandryk hit Brice Atkins for the third touchdown in the middle of the second quarter to put the Eagles ahead 21-0. Hudsonville took a four touchdown lead into the locker room at halftime after Sami Baine scampered two yards into the end zone.

The Eagles played over half of the second half with a running clock as Jomar Williams put them up 35 with 6:47 left in the third quarter. A 38 yard field goal tacked three more points onto the lead headed into the game’s fourth quarter.

Trailing 38-0, Holt scored their first touchdown of the season, snapping a 78:17 scoreless streak which included last week’s 44-0 blowout loss to Grandville. The Rams have had a tough start to the 2016 season facing two tough OK Red teams. Hudsonville completes the CAAC-Blue sweep to improve to 2-0 on the season, and will look to rise in this week’s Remax United Power Poll. The Eagles begin OK-Red play next week as they travel to East Kentwood, who is also 2-0 and ranked in the Power Poll.
