Tri-County and Lakeview have opened the season against each other in both 2014 and 2015, with both games being decided by a touchdown or less. This year, Lakeview sophomore running back Addison Mitchell made sure that it would not come down to the final possessions. Mitchell had 13 carries for 199 yards and a touchdown, along with a 33-yard touchdown reception to carry the Wildcats offense to a 37-6 victory.

Just over three minutes into the game, Mike Zerka scored from one yard out to put the Wildcats on the board with a 7-0 lead. Addison Mitchell entered the scoring column as his 25 yard run just twelve seconds into the quarter put Lakeview in front 14-0.

The Wildcats would score ten more points before the break as a 32 yard field goal by David Larson and a 33 yard reception by Mitchell put this game out of reach at halftime.

Trailing 24-0, the Vikings finally scored with one second left in the third quarter as quarterback Cayden Luchies’ pass was hauled in by Kyle Acton. The two point conversion was unsuccessful however, and Tri-County still trailed by 18.

Lakeview would score two more times in the fourth quarter, both on short runs, and they would win this contest 37-6. The running game for the Wildcats was far too strong for Tri-County to contain, an issue they will have to fix next week when the Vikings will take on Stanton Central Montcalm in the start of CSAA-Gold play.
