Forest Hills Central Tops Cedar, Wins OK White Championship

The Forest Hills Central Rangers, just two years removed from their second straight two-win season, made substantial progress under the direction of their head football coach Tim Rogers, as they knocked off Cedar Springs to win the OK White Championship with a 35-20 win. Offensively for the Rangers, quarterback Luke Majick was nearly perfect under center, as he connected for 14 of his 17 pass attempts for 336 yards and four touchdowns. Freeland Tops Standish-Sterling

On Friday night the Falcons of Freeland hit the road for a contest against the Panthers of Standish-Sterling. This game was big for Freeland, as they needed to get back in the win column to get on the playoff track. In a back and forth contest, the Falcons had just enough offense to hold on for a 27-21 victory. Freeland got a strong start to this contest, as they returned the opening kick all the way to the Standish 30 yard line. Just four plays later, they scored on a 29-yard pass from Elijah Vlassis to Jayce Boucher. This would be the only scoring in the first quarter, a 7-0 lead. In the second quarter, the teams traded a pair of touchdowns. Standish-Sterling tied the contest with a 21-yard pass from Shane Deder to Kenny Adrian, but the lead was retaken by Freeland on a seven-yard rush by Garret Metiva. Standish-Sterling once again responded in the third quarter, as Deder kept the ball on a 57-yard rush to even the score at fourteen. Neither team would score the remainder of the fourth quarter, leaving the teams tied into the final quarter of play.
