The Frankenmuth Eagles entered the season finale against Freeland undefeated for the third straight season on Friday night. Unlike the previous two years, the Eagles emerged victorious, a 20-7 win, clinching their first undefeated regular season since 2012.
In the first quarter, Freeland started the scoring on their opening drive, capping it off with a two-yard run by Tyler Shea, giving the Falcons a 7-0 lead. This lead would vanish before the end of the quarter as Frankenmuth scored on a one-yard touchdown run by Zach Jacobs.
Freeland would not score the rest of the contest, as their offense stalled for the rest of the contest. Frankenmuth would take the lead entering the locker room after Zach Jacobs scored on a three-yard touchdown run to take a 14-7 lead into the locker room.
Neither team would score in the third quarter, but the Eagles sealed the deal in the final frame. On a third down and eight, Zach Jacobs broke through the defense on a swing pass that he took 58 yards to the end zone to extend the lead to 20-7, a lead that they would hold until the end of the contest.
At 9-0, Frankenmuth will be back in action next week at home, as they host a playoff game against a team that will be determined on Sunday night during the selection show. Freeland ends the regular season 6-3, so they will also be back in action next week for the playoffs, but the opponent and location are unknown, also something that will be resolved on Sunday.
