Jackson Lumen Christi Wins Battle of State Champions in Season-Opener

For the second straight season, the West Catholic Falcons opened their season against a fellow state power in Jackson Lumen Christi. This year they both entered the season as reigning champions, as West Catholic won their fourth straight title in Division 5, and the Titans of Lumen Christi won the Division 6 title a season ago. Catholic Central Wins Season Opening Rematch over Country Day

In the title game, they defeated Detroit Country Day 10-7, a game in which they failed to score an offensive touchdown. This year, these two teams opened up the season in Grand Rapids. South Christian Dominant in Season Opening Win over Holland Christian

The South Christian Sailors and Holland Christian Maroons were two of the programs that began their 2017 seasons on Friday night, and they faced off at East Kentwood High School. This game was never close from the beginning as the Sailors steamrolled the Maroons en route to a 40-12 win. Holland Christian tried to steal some momentum to start the contest with an onside kick, but their inability to recover put South Christian in good field position. Freeland Scores Thirty-Two Unanswered to Open 2017 With a Win

The 2o17 campaign opened for the two-time reigning Tri-Valley Central conference champion Freeland Falcons on Thursday night, as they hosted the Bobcats of Bay City John Glenn. For the second straight season, Freeland started the year with a win, taking home a 38-19 victory. On the game’s first drive, John Glenn punched the ball in to take a 6-0 lead.
