On December 28, West Ottawa and Grand Rapids Christian battled in the Muskegon Hall of Fame Classic. This game was one of the best challenges to Christian’s undefeated record this season as the Panthers were narrowly defeated 57-49.
Just under three months later, these two teams will travel to the lakeshore again, but this time to Grand Haven with the Regional Finals on the line. West Ottawa sits at 23-1 on the year, with their lone blemish being that contest against Christian, while the Eagles are a perfect 24-0. They both handily defeated their opponents in the first round of the regionals, as West Ottawa topped Forest Hills Northern 60-25, and Grand Rapids Christian defeated Muskegon 64-25.
The star-studded Eagles, led by Xavier Tillman, James Beck and Duane Washington Jr., will have their hands full with the Panthers on Wednesday night as they have so many parts that contribute to their success, led by senior Jake VanTubbergen.
If you can’t make it out to Grand Haven tomorrow night (7:00 PM), tune in to Michigan Sports Radio as the crew will be on-site to call a pivotal game in the MHSAA playoffs. A spot in the state quarterfinals at Lansing Everett next Tuesday is on the line, don’t miss the action!
