After last week’s heartbreaking loss to Hudsonville, the Rams returned to the court Friday night for another OK Red contest as they hosted the West Ottawa Panthers. In the first quarter, Rockford struggled and they managed just five points, resulting in a twelve point deficit after the first eight minutes.

Things never got better for Rockford, as they failed to reach double digits in the second or third quarter either. The Rams scored seven and eight points respectively in these quarters, and as a result they trailed 41-20 entering the final frame.

Despite outscoring the Panthers by ten in the fourth quarter, Rockford still got knocked off by a score of 50-39 dropping them to 1-7 on the season and 0-2 in the OK Red. With the win, West Ottawa improved to 6-1 on the season, and they now sit at 2-0 in the OK Red. The Panthers were led by Tyler Bosma (twelve points), Nick Wehrmeyer (ten points), and Jake VanTubbergen (ten points). For Rockford, they got another strong effort from Ryan Gamm (eleven points), and they also had the highest scorer in the game in senior Jason Majerle (thirteen points). Next week, West Ottawa continues league play with a home game against Grand Haven on Tuesday, followed by a home matchup with East Kentwood on Friday. For Rockford, they will try to turn their season around as they host Grandville on Tuesday before travelling to Caledonia on Friday.
