Lowell entered Friday night’s contest winners of all ten games this season. In a handful of those games, the Red Arrows had to battle back from a deficit and/or a sluggish start early on in the game. Tonight, in the first ever meeting against Traverse City Central, the Red Arrows once again found themselves down early. But for the eleventh time in eleven tries, Lowell emerged victorious, this time a convincing 42-17.

Traverse City Central, a team known for their lofty regular season records each fall, entered Bob Perry Stadium tonight and they appeared unfazed from the start. They got an early field goal, and followed that with a touchdown run, and the Trojans had fans checking the scoreboard on the MSR app across the state in a state of shock, leading 10-0.

Lowell, the reigning state runner-ups, remained calm and collected and immediately began to bounce back. Seniors Nate Stephens and David Kruse used their legs to make plays, and brought the Arrows all the way back and eventually in front. Stephens scored a trio of touchdowns on runs of fourteen, fifteen and forty yards, while Kruse used his legs to run on two and ten yard scampers.

The Trojans got a late third quarter to cut the margin to eleven, but that was as close as they would get throughout the night, as Lowell responded with two additional touchdowns. After defeating Traverse City Central, Lowell wins their third straight district championship, and they will advance to the Division 2 Regional final next week where the Forest Hills Central Rangers await. The Rangers gave Lowell their fiercest test back in week seven, when they held on for a 41-37 win.
