Last season, in week nine, the Kent City Eagles lost to the Tri-County Vikings 35-7. Since that point, the two teams have headed in opposite directions as the Eagles entered Friday night at 6-2, while Tri-County was 3-5. The trends continued again Friday night, as Kent City handily defeated the Vikings 49-0.

Just under two and a half minutes into the game, the Kent City defense put the team on the board as they recorded a safety to put the Eagles up 2-0.

The offensive enslaught throughout the first quarter by the Eagles made it 22-0 after just twelve minutes of game play. While the second quarter was slightly better, the Viking defense still gave up a pair of touchdowns, enabling the running clock for the entirety of the second half.

Kent City’s Bronson Matthew led both schools offensively as he scored three rushing touchdowns, on runs of six, fourteen and thirty yards out.

With the win, Kent City now sits at 7-2 on the year, and they will be playing next week in the state playoffs. For Tri-County, their seniors have played their last game, and a new era of Viking is ready to be ushered in next fall.
