Entering the final week of the season, the Frankenmuth Eagles and Freeland Falcons entered 8-0, both champions of their respective divisions of the Tri-Valley Conference. Both teams prided themselves on defense throughout the year, and tonight’s effort was no different.

The Freeland Falcons won the game 7-3, with a first quarter touchdown being the game-winner. The usually potent Freeland offense was contained to this score, and little more.

The Falcon defense played one of their best efforts of the season, holding a Frankenmuth offense that averaged 37.6 points per game through the first eight weeks to just a fourth quarter field goal.

Freeland completes their second consecutive undefeated regular season, and at 9-0, they will host a home playoff game next weekend. Frankenmuth slips to 8-1 on the year, but they should also be in a strong position to host a playoff game next week. Fans have a strong chance of these two very well-matched teams meeting back up in the state playoffs, in either the district final or regional round.
