Reed City Blows Out Tri-County

For Tri-County, the 2016 has experienced the high of a close win, and the lows of a blowout loss. Entering tonight, the Vikings had two of each, and they entered the game against Reed City with a 2-2 record. Unfortunately for Tri-County, Friday night was another blowout defeat as the undefeated Coyotes won 55-0. Just under two and a half minutes into the game, Reed City started the scoring on an eleven yard pass. The ball just kept rolling for the Coyotes’ offense as they scored seven more times in the ball game. Phillip Jones had two large touchdown runs of twenty-seven and seventy-six yards a piece to spark the run game for the Coyotes. Four other tailbacks scored in the contest as well, as they just dominated on the front line and in the run game. For Reed City, they improve to 5-0 on the season, and they appear to be the front-runner in the CSAA-Gold Conference. Tri-County is still alive in the postseason hunt as they sit at 2-3 on the season, but next week’s game at Grant is a must-win if they want any opportunity to reach the state playoffs. Allendale Tops Comstock Park in Wild 53-46 Shootout

Comstock Park and Allendale, two OK Blue foes, met on Friday night in Comstock Park in a game that started slow, but ended in a full-blown shootout. The Falcons offense proved too strong as they earned their first conference win in a 53-46 victory. In the game’s first quarter, each team exchanged big rushing plays for touchdowns. Comstock’s Jo Jo Whitley burst through the line for an 82 yard run to start the scoring, and then Drew Courtier got Allendale on the board with a 45 yard run of his own. There were 37 points scored between the two teams in the second quarter. Comstock Park’s Dylan Bazon scored a pair of touchdowns to lead the offensive charge, and Drew Courtier added his second touchdown of the half on another long run, this time from 82 yards out. Comstock Park led 26-22 at the half. The scoring slowed down in the third quarter as there was just eighteen total points. Allendale got a field goal, then a touchdown paired with a two point conversion as a result of Courtier’s third touchdown. Whitey scored Comstock’s lone touchdown in the third quarter on his second run of 80+ yards. After three, the game was tied at 33.
