Three weeks ago, the Rockford Rams season looked bleak as the team was 0-2 facing a must win game against Mona Shores. Flash forward to now, and the Rams are 3-2 on the season with a 2-0 conference record. Rockford struggled early, yet won again in a 31-14 victory over the Buccaneers of Grand Haven.

Grand Haven opened the scoring with a 42 yard touchdown strike from Logan Taylor to Charlie Young to put the Buccaneers up 7-0. Senior tailback Nick Isley responded though for Rockford as he punched it in from two yards out to even the score at seven.

Rockford would score two more consecutive touchdowns as quarterback Jason Whitaker took to the air and found Alex Blick for the score, extending the lead to 21-7. At halftime, Rockford led the game 28-14.

In the second half, the defenses tighetened up as the only scoring was a 45 yard field goal by Eric Zeboor. Rockford won tonight’s game 31-14, their third straight win of the season.

With the loss, Grand Haven drops to 2-3, and they will travel to Caledonia, who also sits at 2-3 on the season. The Rams improve their record to 3-2, and they now sit 2-0 in the OK Red, one half game behind Grandville for first place. Next week, the two teams meet for the league lead, in what should be the best game in West Michigan next Friday night.
