Hudsonville and Grandville, the OK Red’s lone unbeaten teams ranked fourth and fifth respectively in the Remax-United Power Poll, met on the gridiron Friday night. Mother Nature decided that she would delay the game throughout the night, but after the break, the Bulldogs absolutely dominated the night in a 36-6 victory.

Grandville scored the lone touchdown in the first quarter when Josh Atwell ran it in from 13 yards to put the Bulldogs up 6-0. Hudsonville responded however, as Jack Mandryk broke a 70 yard run early in the second quarter to tie the game at six.

The Bulldogs regained the lead when Shane Bakeri ran from 26 yards out to give the Bulldogs a lead with 6:36 to go in the half. Not long after, Mother Nature then gave the players a break as the heavy amounts of lightning in the area delayed the game over an hour.

After the delay, it appears that the Eagles left it in the locker room as the Grandville Bulldogs completely dominated the rest of the contest. Shane Bakeri ran for his second touchdown right before the half to put the Bulldogs up 20-6 at the break, which due to weather was simply a two minute break similar to a quarter break.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs continued the scoring by recording a safety. On the possession that took place as a result of the free kick, Jake Tipton ran it in from eight yards to put Grandville up 29-6. At the end of the third quarter, Brady Paganelli took to the air and found Sam Greco for a seventy yard touchdown, increasing the lead to 36-6.

Neither team would score in the game’s final quarter and the Bulldogs take over first place in the OK Red with a 2-0 league record, while the Eagles drop to 1-1 in league play. Next week, Grandville will take on East Kentwood, while Hudsonville will play Holland West Ottawa.
