Twenty Eight Second Quarter Points Lead West Catholic to Victory

Photo Courtesy of Laurie Timmer   West Catholic emerged victorious yet again Friday night, this time a 35-0 shutout win over Coopersville. The OK Blue favorites started off slow before a large second quarter propelled them to their sixteenth consecutive conference victory. After a first quarter in which neither team scored, the West Catholic Falcons started off the second quarter with a quick touchdown strike from quarterback David Fox. Just sixty-nine seconds of game play passed before Sam Neville intercepted the pass and returned it to the end zone for the game’s second touchdown, putting West Catholic in front...

Rockford Wins Third Straight Game Topping Grand Haven 31-14

Photo Courtesy of Miles Postema https://www.flickr.com/photos/96875625@N08/albums/72157673139904011   Three weeks ago, the Rockford Rams season looked bleak as the team was 0-2 facing a must win game against Mona Shores. Grand Haven opened the scoring with a 42 yard touchdown strike from Logan Taylor to Charlie Young to put the Buccaneers up 7-0. Senior tailback Nick Isley responded though for Rockford as he punched it in from...

Grandville Dominates East Kentwood on Ground in 46-3 Win

One of the most underrated teams in the OK Red Conference (I will admit that I pegged them fifth in the OK Red), the Grandville Bulldogs have taken the area by storm as they now sit 5-0 on the year after a 46-3 domination of East Kentwood. The Bulldogs controlled the ball from the opening kickoff as they scored on the game’s first possession on a Jake Tipton touchdown from eighteen yards out. Grandville then recovered an onside kick attempt, then scored yet again to take a 16-0 lead before the Falcons even touched the football. Grandville rolled out 960 yards of total offense, as they could not be stopped the entire night. Other than an East Kentwood field goal, the Falcons did not put together another decent drive. Jake Tipton and Shane Baker each found the end zone twice in the victory, as Grandville moved up and down the field with ease. With the win, Grandville sits at 5-0, the last undefeated team in the OK Red. Next week, they will try to stay atop the league standings as they take on the Rockford Rams. For East Kentwood, their slide continues as they have now lost three straight games to drop to 2-3 on the year. They will try to bounce back when they take on West Ottawa.
